Employees Quality Assurance Responsibilities:

Job Traveler

Each project undertaken at GarDel Metal Products Inc. will have at a minimum a job traveler, a drawing or other suitable means for describing the characteristics of the product. This information will identify at a minimum

  • Customer name
  • Product name/description
  • Quantity required
  • Date required
  • Dimensional Specifications and
  • Process flow.

Inspection

All products will be manufactured to customer specifications. Appropriate inspections are defined within the Work Instructions as defined below and inspections will be undertaken to ensure product conformance. Acceptance to specifications will be acknowledged through operator signature on the Job Traveler. Additional auditing will be performed randomly by the Supervisor or Quality Assurance and acknowledged on the Traveler. All projects are subject to final inspection to ensure product conforms to customer requirements. This will be identified by the Q A' sign off and/or packager on the traveler. Unless identified with a hold tag or is in the nonconformance area the inspection status of material and product is deemed to be conforming to requirements.

First Off Inspection

Prior to the commencement of Production, a person will undertake a First Off inspection. Evidence of this shall be through sign off of the traveler.

Product Identification

Materials shall be identified as follows:

Raw materials by part number, grade or other suitable means to prevent unintended use.

In Process will be identified with a job number relating to the Job Traveler as identified by a marker or identification Tag.

Finished product will be identified with customer name, job number, purchase order number, product description, quantity ordered, quantity shipped and shipping date.

Where traceability is required all required information will be retained in the job file or forwarded to the client where required by contract.

Customer Supplied Product

Customer supplied product will be identified with the customer name and/or job number. If Customer property is lost damaged or otherwise unsuitable for use, the customer shall be notified and a Nonconformance Report Generated.

Nonconformances

All non-conformances detected, which cannot be immediately corrected, will be handled as per the requirements of Quality manual.

Competency of Employees

All employees shall have the required training and competence on the equipment they are utilizing. Where an employee is undergoing training on equipment their work will be verified by a second person.

Inspection Measuring and Test Equipment

Only Inspection measuring and test equipment that has the required accuracy and capability will be utilized. All calibration will be traceable to a national standard and records of calibration are maintained through the Calibration Program. A label attached to the equipment showing calibration date and due date identifies calibration status. In cases where it is not feasible to attach a label on the equipment, the label will be attached to the equipment's case, (container). A Calibration Record Card is maintained for individual Inspection equipment. Jigs, Fixtures and Templates are used for reference only and are not calibrated. Actual parts are verified with calibrated equipment. GD 261, GD 262

A calendar system is established and maintained which effectively assures that measuring and test equipment is re-calibrated on schedule or discontinued from use.

Preventive Maintenance

All process equipment shall be suitably maintained to ensure availability and productivity. Maintenance requirements will be defined on the Preventive Maintenance Record, which will additionally record activities undertaken.
